NYC

Seth has been saving up his frequent flier miles through work...They had been burning a hole in our pocket so we decided to cash them in for a weekend in NYC for a late anniversary/30th birthday for Seth/and just a time to get away! We walked all over the city, rowed boats in Central Park, ate the most delicious sushi in Brooklyn, and met up with our friends, the Prikazskys, for an 80's night! The Prikazskys got into town on Saturday, so we met up with them. We walked around the city together, had a nice dinner at Tribeca Grill, and then headed to an 80's prom event. We put lots of effort into our 80's outfits. We went across Manhattan getting many stares (yes even in NYC, apparently neon pink high top Reeboks with rainbow laces get strange looks). All this for the joke to be on us. When we got to the 80's prom, it was already over! We were so embarrassed! But we made the most of it. Even though our evening didn't go as planned, we had a great time. NYC has so much energy and it was good to soak some of that up. We stayed near Wall Street so we got to see some of the protesters. We also were able to see the Trade Towers and the memorial. We love NYC and had a great time-just need to remember more comfortable shoes next time! :)

Pumpkin Carving Party

The Snipes and Means came over to have taco soup and carve pumpkins! It was a little crazy with 3 toddlers running around, the adults trying to eat, and trying to have conversations...We said it will be something that we look back upon and laugh...Owen had his 18 month shots that day and was more than cranky that evening! :/ But we managed to have a good time! Our pumpkin ended up being painted rather than actually carved...

Halloween Party at the Tomlinsons

The Tomlinsons hosted us for a Monster Mash party! We had fun dressing up, eating tortilla soup, making carmel apples, and pondering if ghosts are real! :) But I think the highlight of the party was the two babies and their "dance" party! Sweet Mallie (cutest little chicken I've seen) and Owen really "got down" to the Monster Mash. In fact every time the song was over, Owen would point to Lindsey (I guess he thought she was the dj for the party) and say "this". I don't know if it was the carmel he had or if he was deliriously tired, but this boy was boogying all night! Too funny! Thanks Tomlinsons for an awesome night!

YMCA Fall Festival

Let me just say that I love the YMCA! Our branch has fun events throughout the year (oh...and we like "working out" there too! haha) They had a community fall festival today and it was so much fun! I took Owen last year but he really couldn't do much then! :) This year, our "Lil Tater" had a blast! They had games, arts and crafts, Bingo, bounce castles, a band, and free food. Owen's favorite games were ring toss and the bean bag toss. He also got to go on a basketball court for the first time with Daddy! I kind of was an emotional mess looking at him on the basketball court-he seemed so small. I know that in a blink of an eye before he will be grown! After I had Owen, a friend told me "the days may seem long but the years fly by"...I'm afraid they were right! But for now, I will hold fast to these sweet days...

The little things...

Just a few things that Owen is up to these days (that I don't want to forget...)

*He has an OBSESSION with stickers!! His Great Grandma Burns gave him some booklets and he has almost used one of the booklets that has 1,000 stickers in it! His favorite are the little stickers and it's too bad that he can't get the stickers out himself! :) He likes to put the stickers on just about everything including the dogs, the refrigerator, my Jcrew catalog, the floor, his stuffed animals, and sometimes me! :)

*Can hear or see an airplane before we do. He'll start yelling airplane and then bye bye as it is flying off.

*LOVES candy corn...while in the grocery store the other day, he spotted some and yelled CANDY CORN, CANDY CORN all across the store!

*Just got all four of his molars in at the same time:( I think he is feeling a lot better now!

*He likes going outside to throw the rocks in the driveway...or wants to blow bubbles

*He is jabbering up a storm and repeats most words that we say. Some new words are "sa yee" (sorry), "good girl" (to the dogs)

*He has treated the little pumpkins as apples, trying to take a bite into them!

*Is in the 85% of height and only 25% for weight...he's tall and lanky!

*Has started asking for "mouse"-Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. His eyes light up when they start doing the "hot dog dance"! He starts dancing right along with them! :)

Nivens Farm

This week, Owen and I headed to Niven's Farm with some friends! It was such a beautiful fall day-perfect for the pumpkin patch, seeing farm animals and going on a hayride! Owen was quite the wild man, not wanting to sit still for very long! He had a blast! (And so did I! :))
